The A. Grenser 440 Hz traverso
Go to pricelist
Based on an ivory original in a private collection. The instrument is stamped A. Grenser, but the stamp lacks Dresden and the crossed swords, which are normally present on Grenser flutes.
Sometimes instruments were stamped with the name of a famous maker, but made by someone else. The original plays at almost 440 Hz. It shows no signs of alterations, often made to raise the pitch. It has a slightly smaller bore, but still sounds like a late baroque or classical flute.
I reproduce this instrument in boxwood (with a slightly bigger wall thickness), also as a students’ model. Only 440 Hz is available, no other corps de rechange. It’s the best choice for someone who wants an instrument exclusively at modern pitch.
